Fairmont Hotel Innovation and Creativity

This paper focuses on an interview conducted with Mr. Dan McGowan, the Fairmont San Jose Hotel’s current General Manager. The consultation relates to innovation and creativity and explains his perception of its ability to adopt change. Mr. McGowan’s appointment took place in May 2018, and he reports to the Regional Vice President, Mr. Paul Tormey.
He has over twenty-five years’ experience working in the hospitality industry and in Fairmont, where he served in different positions before attaining the current role. Mr. McGowan has a passion for the hospitality industry. His recent roles include running Fairmont’s vast product development, overseeing all operations, financial and strategic aspects at the Landmark hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley. He admits that the company lagged slightly behind innovation-wise, but its current performance shows a high innovation level.
