Topic- The spread of misinformation and disinformation in news platforms and social media outlets.
Problem Statement- In current years, disinformation and misinformation, including news platforms, has become a global crisis due to its critical growth, essentially within social media outlets. The widespread disinformation and misinformation in news platforms and social media outlets can cause an extreme impact on individuals’ decision-making. Despite the current rate in identifying disinformation, misinformation within news platforms is nontrivial due to its difficulty, variety, multi-modality, and fact-checking or commentary prices. This research aims to cover the efforts to address this gap by exploring individuals’ behavior towards authentication and sharing of fake news.
